I love my job.
Acupuncture is rewarding, interesting, challenging and off the beaten path. I could have studied to become an MD but I didn’t want that. I wanted to be like Ellen my Canadian homeopath who worked in mysterious ways. She was exactly what I looked for each time I went to a doctor and walked out disappointed. So I took a leap of faith. I enrolled in a 4 year Masters Degree program for Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture. I never looked back.
Each day I find myself somewhere between people who know about acupuncture and others who are skeptical beyond belief. Understandable. It’s different in many ways. Primarily because it’s about prevention and not about treating sick people – although I treat sick people all the time. Much of my job is educating patients to come in for acupuncture and herbal therapy before they get sick – so they don’t get sick. Prevention is an investment you make now that will pay off in good health in the future. Acupuncture treatments are relaxing. They consist of lying on a comfy therapy table, being dabbed with essential oils, listening to relaxing spa music – with micro-thin acupuncture needles strategically placed in you. Most of my patients love it.
I’ve been an Acupuncture Physician in private practice for over 10 years. I incorporate the main branches of classical Oriental Medicine: differential diagnosis, acupuncture, herbal medicine, manual therapy, nutrition and cognitive therapy. I also work with biomedicine, oftentimes referring my patients to specialists as needed. Lab test results are used to establish baselines and compare data.
I have a passion for understanding life. This has led me down many paths beyond studying medicine. Earth science, physics, nature and philosophy. As well as spiritual paths in the way of Zen, Buddhism and other esoteric quests to seek the purpose and meaning of life.
I also love photography. Capturing life and light through my cameras is an obsession.
I’m grateful to be here. Each day is a gift.
Earning a living helping people is the best career in the world. I’m lucky to be doing what I love.
Love and LIGHT,
Dr V

After over a week of suffering serious sciatic pain I went to Dr. Lopez for help. The treatment was simple and actually relaxing. I felt immediate relief right afterward, and complete relief from the pain within 24 hours. I highly recommend her services.
